Not scalable even on AWS c5 instances

Benchmarks say it can handle 168 subscribers on c5.large server while we tried to broadcast on an AWS c5.large server with only 1 publisher and after crossing 60-70 viewers the load rose to 70. Tried on c5.4xlarge server around 210 people subscribed to 1 publisher and load remained 8-9. Stream resolution was 640*480. Even on such a big server, it is not able to handle 1 publisher with players, am I missing something here? The version of openvidu is the latest, did my setup in the month of April.

Hello @Deepinder_Singh,

I suppose you have read this post in medium to talk about 168 subscribers. This information is only valid when there are different media sessions with 7 participants each.

The topology of one publisher and 168 subscribers can be very different in terms of computations in the media server.

We can provide commercial services to analyze the 1-publisher to hundred of subscribers topology and help with performance tests and tuning.

Regards

I might be wrong here, but isn’t that easy for the server to pass just 1 stream, rather than so many streams from one peer to another? I chose openvidu only because of one to many broadcast, but i cant bear a 4x instance just for 300 people.
