Browser supported by open vidu

Hi Micael Gallego,

We need to understand what are browsers supported by openvidu and few guidelines surrounding that and also we still have that device heating issue if we use openvidu and ultimately after few minutes the entire system or the phone restarts any reasons for that please let us know. We would await for your assistance on this.

Regards,
Ramesh

Official supported platforms are these ones: https://docs.openvidu.io/en/stable/troubleshooting/#8-what-platforms-are-supported-by-openvidu

Devices heating up is normal when using any kind of real time streaming service, as it is a really consuming task. The more videos have to be coded and decoded, the more CPU power will be used. The amount of heat is dependant on the particular device model, its computational power, probably the specifc platform running the app (Safari may be less efficient than Chrome, some devices have hardware acceleration and others don’t…), the particular application using OpenVidu may also be interfering in its own wat… It is very complex.

We cannot provide a detailed explanataion of the efficiency and power consumption of every device running every OS available, using each supported platform. That’s simply impossible for us, and probably for any other similar service. When we say that those are the supported platforms, we are only stating that WebRTC video streaming and our client API is able to work. Media streams are able to be established. But as I’m sure you will understand we cannot guarantee that every combination of every variable I presented above may work in a 100% smooth and efficient way. That being said, lots of companies and developers have been using OpenVidu these last years and we don’t have a particular concern about heated devices or phones restarting. That’s not normal.

Regards.
