We were using the 2.12 recording-java tutorial and were getting recordings with a 16:9 aspect ratio, however, in 2.14 we appear to have 4:3. I do not see where this was changed. Any pointers?

In fact it hasn’t changed at all. I guess you are recording with INDIVIDUAL mode, as COMPOSED mode allows you to specify the exact recording resolution.
INDIVIDUAL recording dumps into disk the media stream “as it is” withou any kind of processing. If you are getting 4:3, that means that the specific publish stream has a resolution of 640×480, 800×600, 960×720, 1024×768, 1280×960, 1400×1050, 1440×1080 , 1600×1200, 1856×1392, 1920×1440, or 2048×1536.
If you are getting other aspect rations, then the widthxheight of the published video is different than that. Is really that simple
