Recordings very pixelated

Hi!

I’m currently recording the videos in 1280x720, this should be 720p but the end result of the recording seem to be very pixelated. Any settings I need to toggle on OpenVidu’s end to make the videos more crisp? (like Zoom/Teams)

Also, by upgrading to Enterprise (using Mediasoup) will that also make the videos a better quality? And do you have any example of the differences in video quality?

Thanks,
Bart

OpenVidu supports two ways to record videos: INDIVIDUAL and COMPOSED.

What are you using?

COMPOSED recording with custom layout

Hello @bart. Recordings being pixelated may be related because of one or multiple of these situations:

  1. Bad outgoing bandwidth of publishers.
  2. Bad bandwidth on the Media Node.
  3. CPU overload, which may reduce the quality of the recording, making the browser limiting the bandwidth to be able to process the video with less CPU.

When do you notice such situations? Do you have enough CPU in your Server/Media nodes? Check also any network limitation that your cloud provider apply to your instances.

Thanks!
