# OpenVidu Web Component: Check if Session is Active or Not

Greetings all,

Is there a way to check if session is active or not. I want to use this feature to let participant in to the meeting after a publisher has published the meeting.

If I didn’t do this, any participant can start a meeting (Which I don’t want them to)

Hello,

1. You **MUST** have a back-end API (in production)

2. Call the OpenVidu REST API ‘_Retrieve active session info_’ method from your back-end API (CURL, whatever…)

1. Profit? 🙂 Check the HTTP response code and send it over from your back-end to your front-end and allow the participant to join or not according to that
