# AV1 Encoders support

AV1 encoder support just landed in chrome 90  
A possible codec to support in the upcoming future?  
If yes when do OV team plans to add it to the stack?

We plan to add support in OpenVidu to other media servers besides Kurento. Concretely we plan to add [mediasoup](https://mediasoup.org/) to the PRO edition.

The awesome [Iñaki Baz Castillo](https://github.com/ibc), [Vittorio Palmisano](https://github.com/vpalmisano) and others are working to add AV1 support into mediasoup. We hope to have mediasoup integrated in OpenVidu at the end of Q2.
